Location: Apele Vii Commune, Dolj County

Objective: Establishment of a land improvement site to rehabilitate desertified land.
Planted species: Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia) and Honey locust (Gleditsia triacanthos).

Reason for selecting the land improvement site
The Apele Vii Commune is located in the southern part of Dolj County, in an area severely affected by desertification. According to soil studies, the soil on the planted site was classified as degraded due to desertification.
Together with our partner OMV Petrom and the local administration of Apele Vii Town Hall, we launched a mixed species seedling planting initiative in the spring of 2022 on 3.8 hectares of desertified land to stabilize and rehabilitate the soil by planting forest trees.
Latest work carried out: Mechanical hoeing between the rows and partial manual hoeing, only around the seedlings planted as replacements this season, June 2026.
