OMV Petrom Campaign
The Romania Plants for Tomorrow campaign set out to plant 2,000,000 trees between 2020 and 2023. This target was exceeded in 2022, and the campaign continues!
Planting Results
In 2022, we continued our planting work as part of the Romania Plants for Tomorrow campaign in the communities of Breasta, Dobrotești, Apele Vii and Lumina.
In spring 2022, we planted 18,500 seedlings in Apele Vii, Dolj County, and 2,100 seedlings in Breasta, Dolj County.
In autumn 2022, we planted 2,200 seedlings in Breasta, 112,000 seedlings in Dobrotești, Dolj County, and 9,000 seedlings in Lumina, Constanța County.
In 2022, 1,175 volunteers joined us in the field.
During the first two years of the campaign, with the support of OMV Petrom, we planted on degraded land and established new protective forest belts in three communities in Dolj County:
- Bistreț – 2.5 ha – 12,500 forest seedlings planted in autumn 2019 with the help of 200 volunteers;
- Breasta – 2.4 ha – 12,000 forest seedlings planted in spring 2020; 5 ha – 25,000 forest seedlings planted in autumn 2020; 0.6 ha – 2,920 seedlings planted in autumn 2021 with the help of 400 volunteers;
- Celaru – 15.3 ha – 75,000 forest seedlings planted in autumn 2020; 10 ha – 50,000 forest seedlings planted in spring 2021; 15 ha – 75,000 forest seedlings planted in autumn 2021;
Educational Session Results
In spring 2023, 5,782 children from 200 schools, kindergartens and high schools across Romania planted 11,000 seedlings after taking part in lessons about forests.

In 2022, 3,928 children took part in educational sessions about the role of trees, facilitated by 237 teachers. Adoptă un Copac sent 14,000 seedlings—including fir, spruce, sessile oak, ash, Northern red oak, Siberian elm, common hawthorn, Russian olive, saltcedar, and wild privet—to 281 kindergartens, schools and high schools across the country, where the children planted them together with their teachers.
In autumn 2021, more than 600 pupils in grades 0–8 took part in educational sessions where they learned about forests and their importance. The first schools to host these activities were located in communities where our planting work was already underway—Breasta, Bistreț, Celaru and Goicea in Dolj County—with the aim of encouraging children to care more deeply about forests and nature and take greater responsibility for protecting them.
